Q: I have never worked in a bank. How do I get started in a Banking career?
A: A perfect place to start is in the branch environment as a Universal Banker. Universal Banker applicants do not need to have previous banking experience; however, applicants need a solid work, school or volunteer history. All Universal Banker applicants must first complete an application then an ‘applicant assessment’ before advancing to the interview process.
Q: What is an applicant assessment?
A: An ‘applicant assessment’ is a web based assessment that measures the applicant’s basic skills, work attitudes and job judgment which is important for a customer service position. After the assessment, the Human Resources Department will contact the applicant to discuss the next steps of the recruitment process.
Q: What is the interview process like?
A: Two bank managers will interview you. Our structured interview process asks the same questions of all individuals applying for the position. This behavioral based interview format is built on the premise that past behavior is the best indicator of future job performance. Therefore, we use a structured format to draw out your past experiences in each of the core competency skills necessary to succeed in the position for which you are applying. We want to hear specific examples about instances where you have demonstrated the use of these skills. We are interested in what you can do and what experiences have prepared you to be successful at Rhinebeck Bank.
Q: Is there any opportunity for career advancement? Does Rhinebeck Bank promote from within?
A: Most definitely. Rhinebeck Bank believes in contributing to employees’ personal and professional growth. The Bank has an aggressive performance management process along with extensive employee development programs. Every effort is made to identify internal candidates for position openings. Positions are posted within the organization before pursuing external candidates.
Q: Do you have part-time positions?
Q: What benefits programs are offered by Rhinebeck Bank?
A: We offer one of the most comprehensive employee benefit programs in the industry today. It is designed to meet the varying needs of our employees and includes a wide array of benefits - ranging from health care plans to retirement plans.
Q: How can I be sure that a position I find online hasn’t already been filled?
A: Every effort will be made to remove job postings as soon as a position is filled. You will receive an acknowledgment of your application and will be contacted by us if your information is a match with the requirements of the open position.
Q: I sent my resume in a couple of days ago. How long will it take before I can schedule an interview?
A: You will receive an acknowledgment that your resume has been received. If an available position fits with your qualifications, you will be contacted by the Human Resources Department.
Q: Will you contact my former employers for references?
A: Once an offer of employment has been extended, we will contact your former employers.
Q: Which choice is best for submitting my resume: electronic, regular mail or fax?
A: All are acceptable. Although electronic is the most efficient, resumes/applications that arrive via regular mail or fax are given equal attention.
